Terms of use

PassTheBrief is a notebook for work you do with AI assistants. It holds your projects, tasks, prompts and a record of what happened, so you can move between assistants without explaining yourself again.

By creating an account you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the service.

PassTheBrief is new and being actively built. Things will change, occasionally break, and sometimes be unavailable. We do not promise any particular level of uptime, and we would rather say that plainly than bury it.

Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. That is sensible advice for any service, and especially for a young one.

Keep your sign-in details to yourself, and tell us if you think somebody else has got into your account. What happens under your account is your responsibility.

One person, one account. You must be at least 13 years old to use PassTheBrief.

You keep every right to what you write here. We claim no ownership of it. We store and display it in order to run the service, and we pass it to an AI assistant only when you have connected one and it asks.

We do not use your notes to train AI models, and we do not give them to anybody else to train on.

You choose which assistants to connect, and you approve each one on a screen that says what it will be able to do. Once connected, an assistant can read your notebook and add to it.

Those assistants are made by other companies. What they do with what they read is governed by their terms, not ours, and we are not responsible for their behaviour, accuracy or availability. An assistant can be wrong, and it can write something into your notebook that you did not intend. That is why nothing is ever really deleted and why every change is recorded with a name against it — so you can see what happened and put it back.

Check anything that matters before acting on it. An assistant’s suggestion is not advice, and it is certainly not legal, medical or financial advice.

Please do not:

• break the law with it, or use it to harm anyone;
• try to reach another person’s notebook, or probe the service for weaknesses without asking us first;
• hammer the service with automated traffic beyond ordinary use of the connector;
• store other people’s personal information here without a proper reason to;
• resell the service as your own.

If you find a security problem, please write to hello@passthebrief.com before telling anyone else. We will take it seriously and we will thank you.

PassTheBrief is free to use while it is this new. If paid plans arrive, we will say clearly what changes and give account holders notice first. Connecting an AI assistant will not be the thing we charge for.

You can stop at any time — ask us to close your account and your notebook is deleted.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or if we have to stop running the service. If we ever shut PassTheBrief down, we will give notice and a way to take your notes with you.

PassTheBrief is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or lost data arising from your use of the service.

Nothing in these terms limits any right you have that cannot be limited by law.

PassTheBrief is run from the State of Michigan in the United States. These terms are governed by Michigan law, without regard to its rules on conflicts of laws, and any dispute that cannot be settled between us belongs in the state or federal courts sitting in Michigan.

If you are a consumer somewhere with stronger local protections, this does not take away rights the law where you live gives you.

We will update the date at the top when these terms change, and tell account holders by email about anything significant. Continuing to use PassTheBrief after a change means you accept it.
